How-To-Use

Buttery Presenter was designed to be easy to use to aid any non-technical person when presenting and sharing files (content) for a virtual meeting. However, below are some notes on use and tips to get the most from this tool.

Control Center.

This is where you control your files and see all relevant information, as well as controls over the content and sharing.

Add Files.

There are essentially two ways to add files to Buttery Presenter. You can use a button in the top right corner of the Main View or by dragging and dropping files onto the Main View. Both ways work the same and allow you to use whichever is easiest for you.

Add files at any time, even while a sharing session has been established.

Drop Files.

Easily drag over files from Finder into Buttery Presenter and it will automatically sort and populate the selected files. Simply open a Finder window, navigate to the files you wish to import, select them, and then drag them to the Main View. Buttery Presenter does the rest.

Where to drop the files

The entire Main View should respond to drop-files action, however, the lower portion of the MainView indicates that it is always accessible and responsive to adding files.

Add Files Manually.

The other way you can add files is by either clicking the “Add Files” button located in the top right of the MainView or by clicking the “Drop files” icon. Both will open a document picker which you may pick one or multiple items to import.

Note: try to avoid trying to click-dragging files from the open document picker and dropping them onto the Main View. This is because, although it will import the files when you drag them to the Main View and drop them, it will appear visually that nothing has happened. This is because the Main View doesn’t get updated with the new files until the open document picker window is closed. Once closed, any files you dragged from the document picker window, as well as any you had selected when clicking “Open” will import and populate on-screen. Even if you click “Cancel” from the document picker window, any you dragged over and dropped onto the Main View while the document picker window was open will be imported and populate on-screen.

View a File.

To start a sharing process or view an individual file, click the desired file from the list of imported files below the TV. Once a file is selected, the view will update to show the file within the TV. File information is located to the right of the TV in an info panel; you can also edit the file from there.

Among the imported files below the TV, the selected file cell will update to show a magenta border around it.

Editing Files.

There are two ways to edit files: select an individual file and edit from the info panel to its right or edit all the files at once via the “edit all” button located at the top right of the gird/list of files .

Edit a File.

To edit one file at a time, select the desired file. The view will update with the file showing within the TV. To the right of the TV is an info panel. Bring your mouse to the desired field. You will notice that the view updates as you hover over the items. Click the desired field and a box will show below it for you to make your edits.

Edit Multiple Files.

You can edit all your imported files at once by clicking the “Edit all ✏️” icon - located at the top right.

Delete a File.

You can delete a file by right-clicking the file and selecting “Delete”.

Sharing.

Each time you start sharing content, you initialize a “sharing session”. This verbiage highlights the changes that will happen to the views and new or updated controls you will have access to.

Note: Sharing opens a separate window that has no borders or toolbar. While sharing, you can still cycle through content. However, when you change assets (cycling), that asset will replace the previous one in the separately open sharing window.

Share a File.

You can easily share individual asset content in two ways. The first is by clicking on the share button (square with an arrow pointing up) in the middle of the enlarged file. The second is by clicking the “Start Sharing” button below the file.

Sharing Information

Once a sharing session starts, information about sharing can be found in the info panel to the right of the TV.

Note: Frame rate currently only displays for videos.

Controlling Videos

Video controls currently show on each video. However, to play or pause the video, it is recommended to use the controls below the video on the Main View.

Stop Sharing

To stop sharing content, simply click the share icon located under the TV in the Main View. Stopping the sharing session will close the separate Sharing View.

Note: closing the separately open Sharing View will not stop the sharing session in Zoom. Currently, it will pause the Zoom sharing session; you will need to navigate to the Zoom sharing controls to end sharing.
